Aatos Editions publishes thought-provoking literature for an international readership. Intriguing layout and high-quality execution of the books are at the shining core of the brand.

We designed the brand identity for this new book publishing house and its first products, three classics; George Orwell’s 1984, Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice, and The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius in close collaboration with the founder, Mikael Lilius.

“DD’s designers have been extremely fun and easy to work with.”

The age-old symbols of truth, wisdom and insight also apply to Aatos, which promises to provide its readers with “uplifting and out-of-the-ordinary content”.

Eyebrows frame the eye and and bring character, even expressiveness to them. The brows also reference the book as an object and its ever-turning pages.

Aatos offers its readers insights into a better life and a more intelligent world. Copywriter Tiina Kaakkunen of Istu ja Pala Kaakkusta summed up Aatos’ mission in one sentence – Word for Thought.

“The DD team approach is relaxed yet highly professional. And best of all, the results of the work have been stunning across the board.”

Mikael Lilius,
Founder of Aatos

The intense blue, gold-like beige, and burnt orange (burnt sienna) of the Aatos colour palette highlight the brand’s classical and somewhat mythical aspects.
